Cafe TournBride is one of those restaurants you are always happy to visit again. Even when there are dozens of alternatives you haven’t tried, you’ll often be drawn back to its excellent food and service.

What’s in a name?

The name goes back to the time of Louis XlV. A tourne-bride was a hostel or inn, usually close to a large chateau, where the servants and attendants (and their horses) would stay, while their masters and mistresses enjoyed the hospitality at the main house.

If you go to Cafe TournBride today, you definitely don’t need to arrive with horses and retinue. This café-bistro offers its hospitality to everyone. Just walk along rue Mouffetard (the Mouffe) and you’ll see its bright red awning.

The service is friendly, relaxed and often very charming.

Inside, there is attractive table and ‘booth’ type seating but, as always – weather permitting – the best option is to eat on the covered terrasse.

They serve meals all day and offer a great range for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Check out the blackboard for the latest dishes.

We haven’t been disappointed yet. Rue Mouffetard is a busy pedestrian street in the 5th arrondissement and has lots of good places to eat (and no, they’re not all tourist traps) but Cafe TournBride is a great choice, and reasonably priced.
