It’s time for a break in Aix-les-Bains. Why? It’s a beautiful spa town, on the shores of Lake Bourget, at the foot of the mountains. Convinced yet?

Annecy is often called the ‘Venice of the Alps’, which is not surprising. As well as its picturesque canals, it also has the cleanest lake in France, a medieval ‘old town’ and stunning snow-capped mountains as a backdrop. Basically, it has the lot.

If you head to Nantes, you’ll find a modern city with a storehouse of history and plenty of fun activities. Definitely put it on your must-visit list.
